For There Is Love
Last night I dreamed a dream
While I was wide awake
About a wondrous land
One free of war and hate
I knew not where I was
How this place came to be
But I was filled with love
Such sights my eyes did see
Like children playing tag
And moms and dads a-smilin’
No one was mean or mad
No bombs or bullets flyin’
There was no shame or fear
Folks loved their fellow man
And all were equals here
White, brown, black, yellow man
For there is love
we’ll find it on the way
Oh yes it’s all been planned
Our journey starts today
For there is love
But we all must play a part
To help the world to see
The key that is the human heart
Crossed paths with Brumblebrax
The magical unicorn
He said this was the land
Where peace and love were born
He took my hand in his
We walked along the sea
And then we took our place
Nearby the learning tree
The learning tree grows tall
It stands for all to see
Its fruit is peace and love
And it is sold for free
“Oh learning tree,” I cried
“Why must men have such fear?”
And through his wise old bark
I thought I saw a tear
For there is love
Not just for some but all
But it will come with time
To walk, we first must crawl
For there is love
Soon the whole world will see
And we’ll fly across the moon
Just like our pal E.T.
I dreamed a dream of love
That war and hate were gone
And so I made a wish
Upon a magic leprechaun
He said you must make a world
With no violence, theft or drugs
Where streets are safe at night
And all the guns shoot hugs
And so I hitched a ride
Upon a mermaid’s back
And we swam through the night
Though actually I just sat
And though that mermaid died
In the end it was worth it all
‘cause soon I spread the word
To gain peace we must stand tall
For there is love
Just ask the learning tree
For it grows inside our hearts
Though not literally
For there is love
It begins with just we two
We’re cooking you a meal
The main course is love stew
For there is love
Now go and tell your chums
From the rich wall street cats
To the filthy homeless bums
Last night I dreamed a dream…
