Candyland

Candyland

Throw away your troubles and come along with me

I know a place that has no hate and everyone is free

Boys and girls there get along, every woman and man

so take my hand and come with me, we’re going to Candyland

Through the apple fields and orange peels to the birds and their happy tune

to the lemon drops and cherry pops under a chocolate moon

let’s swim in a sky of key lime pie, daydream all we can

won’t our friends be jealous for we’re playing in Candyland

Let us call the pastor and get married in a gingerbread church

you’ll raise our candy children, in a caramel field I’ll work

we’ll watch the soda pop ocean break upon the taffy sand

No relation to the game, but we call this Candyland

Look there over yonder, just beyond the gummy sun

it’s a proudly standing soldier brandishing his chocolate gun

he eyes the candy landscape, holds his weapon in hand

keeping peace and protecting us here in Candyland

Some say the candy soldiers have no common sense

They’re very cruel and they often shoot random residents

but these soldiers follow orders and they’re doing all they can

to enforce the law and keep us slaves right here in Candyland

I serve my candy masters, in my work I must not fail

my beloved wife and children were just taken to candy jail

I’ve been told they will be killed if I don’t work hard as I can

Oh my but life is very hard here in Candyland

Some nights I lie awake in bed staring at the taffy moon

praying to my God that death’s sweet kiss will reach me soon

I believe that very soon my life shall end at my own hand

It’s worth it to escape the pain we know as Candyland

So next time you’re dreaming of caramel trees and the taffy lake

Please understand this is a place that God did forsake

if you think a life of candy’s superneat and really grand

then you’ve clearly never been to this hell we call Candyland
